West Elm Local
It was my absolute pleasure meeting a lot of you last weekend at my West Elm Bondi pop up for which I am so grateful and humbled!
I was kindly invited by the store as part of the West Elm Local initiative that supports local creatives and artists. The timing could not have been better with my new range of prints and (wait for it) silk scarves arriving JUST in time for it.
I didn't do the pop-up to make sales (as a rule, I try not to do events with this as a priority), I wanted to get to know the people interested in my work. I wanted to hear where people were hanging their prints, what they looked for in an artwork, see what they accessorised their house with.. Luckily I got to do it all with the nice folks at Bondi.
The dad who asked her daughter if she'd like the Chanel print for her room (she ended up choosing New York though). Whilst she was choosing a frame, he confided in me that she was a creative herself and it was all I could do to grab him and exclaim, "Nurture her talents!"
They lovely Chinese girl who bought the Rose print for her and her boyfriend's new apartment. He wanted a black or white frame, but she liked the Rose Gold - I may have talked her into getting what she wanted...
Huge appreciation goes to Amy, the Visual Merchandising styling queen and Elly, the Social Media lover! Not to mention every friendly staff member who came around and chatted to me. Let's not forget all the fine, fancy frames in West Elm that made me look good (are there any frame wholesalers out there who'd like to partner up? Bonus points for metallic accents!)
