Chase-ing the Dream
I had the fantastic opportunity this year of illustrating Chatswood Chase's Christmas Campaign "Let It Snow."
For those who weren't there, there were ridiculously muscly elves on stilts, pretty ballerinas, and snow that shot out from the heavens onto Santa for the photos below!
On the day, I also customised Christmas Cards which were especially illustrated and designed for the event.
Throughout the day, I got to meet so many beautiful people who were so encouraging about pursuing a creative career - thank you all! It really means so much to be able to do this as a job, and your support - every single Instagram follow, Facebook like means the world. I had a few mothers come up and tell me their children loved to draw - it was all I could do not to force my paints and pens on them to take home! However I was honest and told them it wasn't the easiest of careers, but without the support of my parents, my husband, my friends - none of this would be happening. If you have a daughter or son who loves to draw, get them one of those cheap art sets that come with 49 pencils and 88 textas. Enrol them in a drawing workshop and see if they like it. Tell them their scribbles are awesome and stick them on your fridge!
Unlike the theme, I didn't play it cool and cannot express enough gratitude for the Marketing team and centre for giving me this amazing opportunity. I've had a few pinch-me moments, and seeing my illustrations plastered all over the centre was definitely one of them. And being able to take this baby home was a total highlight:
